WORLD
Toby's world is more or less a lot like our own– except in some corners of the world, witches and creatures beyond the nightmares of children exist, and they don't always get along well with humans.Ashvale is an idyllic town in California that seems like the perfect place for a family. And for the most part, that assumption isn't wrong. There is a strong sense of community among the people in town, and no one is ever left for wanting for things to do with the number of quaint local shops, a mall and a theater, and the bigger cities aren't a terrible far drive away, either.
What they don't tell you in the brochure is that Ashvale is unofficially famous for its unusually high number of missing person cases every year. There are tons of rumors about the forest in town being haunted or inhabited by all manner of things ranging from chupacabras to banshees, which brings out all manners of tourists, ghost hunters and other paranormal enthusiasts. The truth is a very little-known and incredibly well-kept secret by some of the oldest families in town.
CHARACTER
The middle of 8 children, Toby is an eccentric extrovert to the max. He has no real filter, if a thought enters his head, it has about a 98.9% chance of coming out of his mouth. He is not a life of the party sort, despite the extroversion– he likes people, and never really wants to spend much time alone, but he mostly keeps to his own personal inner circle.He also happens to be from a centuries-long line of witches that have a pretty deep history in Ashvale. No one really knows that the family are ~magical~, but the Williams are one of the oldest families in town and pretty much everyone knows that.

Probably the literally most toxic relationship Toby has ever had. The final shot he gave at an actual relationship. Off and on for 3 years because Toby couldn't let go, even when he knew it was bad and wouldn't really work.

The stalker. He hooked up with her fairly quickly after the final, final breakup with Michael and she is basically obsessed with him and refuses to leave him alone. Toby uses her more than anything because he knows he can get almost anything out of her if he just gives her a little attention.Yes, he is kind of a terrible person sometimes.

WITCH BASICS
Witches are humans born with the power to affect change by magical means. Though not immortal, all witches have longer than typical human lifespans; most witches don't live more than 3-5 centuries and they are still susceptible to all human illnesses/ailments, and injury/death. A witch's emotional state (including self-doubt/disbelief in oneself/one's own abilities or mental health complications or medications) can greatly affect their success or even cut off access to their magic altogether.All witches are capable of the following:
• Spellcasting: What it says on the tin; gather the necessary ingredients and perform rituals/incantation-based spells. These vary in strength and action, and the bigger the spell, the harsher the toll it takes on the caster; this also includes curses (long-term) and hexes (short-lived), which are spells with ill intent.➥ Infusion: The ability to imbue supernatural properties into an item either temporarily or permanently (i.e. enchanted objects). Only the witch that created the spell on the item can remove the magic, or the (temporary or permanent) death of that witch will cancel the effects.
➥ Warding: The ability to place protection wards on people or places to shield them from harm.
• Conjuration: Creating objects out of thin air; these objects are solid and real as any other, but ultimately are still only magical constructs, if the creator is injured or killed, the object disappears unless it's spelled otherwise beforehand.
• Channeling: The ability to pull power from the very lifeforce of other living or supernatural beings or magic-infused items to add to their own innate power. Prolonged channeling could be detrimental to a person being used as a channel. It could potentially cause weakness, headaches, nosebleeds, unconsciousness, and in exceptionally rare and intense cases, even death; no harm comes to immortal beings used as channels, however.
• Scrying: Use of crystals or personal objects along with a map to locate a target. There is no distance requirement between the witch and the target for the spell to work, but scrying never works if the target is in any way magically hidden.
• Telekinesis: Movement of objects/people through mental (the bigger the target, the more mental exhaustion there is as a result).
• Pain Infliction: Creates a sensory overload of pain in the target. This takes almost no mental or magical energy for a skilled witch.
WILLIAMS WITCHES
The Williams family line are very powerful witches, powered through their own innate magical ability.Though it is not guaranteed that they receive any of these abilities, members of the Williams bloodline have varying penchants for a variety of additional powers not typical of all witches. Typically, if one of these abilities is going to manifest, it does by age 12; however, though rare, it is not completely unheard of for 'late bloomers' to exist.
• Elemental Control: Manipulation of air, earth, fire, and water. Typically there is an affinity of one element over the other for the witches that possess this ability.➥ Ellie is very adept at earth magic, and Aiden has shown some signs of developing pyrokinesis.
• Premonition: The ability to perceive future events before they happen. This ability happens at random, the visions are always vague, and there is no way to control it at all. This power tends to manifest in women in the Williams family.
➥ Chloe is the first in the last 2 generations to show any signs of potentially having this power.
• Teleportation: The ability to instantly relocate oneself without occupying the space between two points. It looks like this~
➥ Henry and Michael are both experts with this ability.
• Mind Manipulation: The ability to control the mind of another person; this could be used to alter or erase memories or control another person's actions against their will.
➥ None of the current generation Williams bloodline has this power at this time.
TOBY
Toby has none of the "extra" family specialties, and he isn't too broken up about it, either. There's a weird sort of additional pressure on the members of the family that have those particular skills that he is perfectly fine without having on his shoulders, thanks.That said, he is most skilled with telekinesis and scrying. The rest, he's pretty average with. Though his bloodline means he's got more power behind him than the average witch, that's kind of where the advantage ends. He has not honed many of the skills he has at this time.
